Man shot dead in fight outside New York restaurant

Jeffrey Pierre, a 42-year-old man, was shot to death last night during a fight outside a restaurant in The Bronx (NYC).

According to police, Pierre was fighting with another man outside the “Last Stop Bar & Grill” on White Plains Road near East 240th Street, in the Wakefield neighborhood, just before midnight when a third person who was not involved in the confrontation opened fire on him.

Police officers responding to a 911 call found Pierre with multiple gunshot wounds in the torso. He was rushed to Jacobi Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead.

It is not clear the original reason for the dispute or whether the gunman knew any of the men involved.

No arrests have been made or suspects identified. Anyone with information should call to 1-800-577-TIPS (8477) and in Spanish 1-888-57-PISTA (74782). Also through the page crimestoppers.nypdonline.org or by text to 274637 (CRIMES), followed by TIP577. All communications are strictly confidential.

After the rise of shootings in 2020 and 2021, particularly among young members and/or victims of gangs, 2022 has maintained the same trend. In many cases, gunmen use “ghost” weapons, so called because they lack serial numbers to be traced and are usually homemade.
