One dead shot in the head and another wounded: shooting in New York liquor store

A man died and another was wounded in a shooting last night outside a liquor store in the Bronx (NYC).

Police officers found the two victims outside a liquor store at 189 Burnside Ave in the Morris Heights neighborhood around 10 p.m. after a person called 911 and reported the gunshots.

A 32-year-old man was shot in the head. He was pronounced dead after being rushed to St Barnabas Hospital. Police withheld his identity pending family notification.

The other victim, a 27-year-old man, was injured in the groin and taken to the same health center in stable condition, reported New York Post. The motive for the shooting or the connection between the victims is not clear.

No arrests have been made or suspects identified. Anyone with information should call to 1-800-577-TIPS (8477) and in Spanish 1-888-57-PISTA (74782). Also through the page crimestoppers.nypdonline.org or by text to 274637 (CRIMES), followed by TIP577. All communications are strictly confidential.

After the rise of shootings in 2020 and 2021, particularly among young members and/or victims of gangs, 2022 has maintained the same trend. In many cases, the gunmen use “ghost” weapons, so called because they lack a serial number to be traced and are usually homemade.

All charges are mere accusations and those charged are presumed innocent until proven guilty in court.
