Police find body shot in crashed car in New York

A car accident in Queens (NYC) led to the unexpected discovery of a man who had been shot in the head.
The series of events occurred last night shortly before 8 p.m. at Parsons Boulevard and Franklin Avenue, vecindario Flushing. Police reported that a white van stopped at a traffic light in red at the intersection when it was struck head-on by a Range Rover traveling northbound on Parsons Boulevard.
The driver of the Range Rover fled on foot. When NYPD officers responded to the scene they found a 48-year-old man in the back seat of the Range Rover, with a gunshot wound to the head. He was taken to Flushing Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
The driver of the white van was also taken to a nearby hospital in stable condition. Police are currently looking for the driver of the Range Rover.
Authorities say the gunshot wound sustained by the 48-year-old man pre-dated the car accident, they said. ABC News. Police are investigating when he was shot and whether the incident occurred inside the car or the victim was being transported at the time of the crash.
