Man shot to death outside East Harlem apartment complex, NYPD says

A victim was fatally shot outside an East Harlem apartment complex early Saturday morning, New York police said.
Authorities receiving a report at 3:10 a.m. of a person being shot found him on the sidewalk in front of a playground on E. 128th St. near Lexington Ave. with a life-threatening chest wound. .
The playground belongs to NYCHA’s Jackie Robinson Houses, officials stated.
EMS transported the 31-year-old man to Harlem Hospital, where he was pronounced dead. So far the victim has not been identified until the New York Police Department locates the next of kin.
Police said a bullet casing was found near the man’s body.
Investigators were searching for surveillance video Saturday morning and poring over a pile of clothing and other items at the scene. Among the items were a pair of sneakers and a coloring book that were placed in plastic evidence bags.
Neighborhood residents said they did not know who was shot.
The shooter was described as a 5-foot-9, dark-skinned male who weighed close to 150 pounds. He was last seen running south on Lexington Ave.
No arrests have been made in connection with the case.
