Young man died after falling from a car door in Queens, New York

A young man was dragged to his death on a street in Rockaway Beach (Queens) after grabbing a car door handle as the driver kept going.
The 27-year-old man was found unresponsive near Beach 87th Street and Rockaway Beach Boulevard around 9:05 p.m. Monday by NYPD responding to a 911 call.
Apparently the young man would have clung to the car door during a confrontation in front of “Hammel Houses”. The driver stepped on the accelerator and dragged the victim two blocks down Rockaway Beach Blvd. before swerving into a parked vehicle, according to amNY.com.
Rescuers took the injured man to Jamaica Hospital Medical Center but were unable to save him, he said. Pix11. His name was not immediately released pending family notification.
The cause of death has not been announced, but it is presumed that the victim hit the asphalt violently. It is not clear if the victim knew the driver of the gray Honda Accord or if he was responsible for the accident.
