Young Queens woman died after falling 27 stories from elegant Hyatt hotel bar in Times Sq, New York


A 26-year-old woman fell to her death from a posh Times Square hotel rooftop bar, leaving staff who tried to help her “traumatized.” said police sources and workers.

The woman, whose name has not yet been released pending family notification, was seen standing on the ledge of “Bar 54” at the hotel. “Hyatt Centric Times Square New York” yesterday just before 3:30 pm

The young woman, who resided in the Hollis neighborhood of Queens, plummeted from the 54th floor and landed on a 27th floor balcony, the New York police said. She was pronounced dead at the scene.

The staff lunged forward and tried to grab her, but the woman dove in before they could pull her off the ledge, described New York Post. “They saw her. They tried to help her, but they couldn’t,” a worker said that he was not there but that he had been informed about the incident. “All the staff are traumatized right now.”

Police were reviewing video surveillance footage of the incident and it has not yet been determined whether the fall was accidental or intentional. but witnesses told NYPD the woman was “seen jumping” off the ledge.

The establishment located at 135 W 45th St, which claims to be the “highest open-air hotel rooftop bar in the city”, it was closed yesterday for the rest of the day and it is unclear if it will reopen today.

“We are deeply saddened by the situation that occurred this afternoon at our hotel and our thoughts are with the family of the individual and those who have been affected,” Hyatt Hotels Corporation CEO Tom Blundell said in a statement last night. “We are working closely with local law enforcement and all inquiries should be directed to the New York Police Department.”
